I’ve signed the contract, phoned my parents, and alerted social media, so now it’s your turn to officially hear the news. If you’ve been wondering about my NaNoWriMo non-fiction project this year, or you’ve caught me anxiously preparing for what I’ve been calling my ‘secret project’, it’s because…
I’m writing a book!
I’ve been approached by Jessica Kingsley Publishers to write a guide to good mental health for trans and non-binary people. JKP has produced some of my favourite books of recent times, including Not Just A Tomboy, so I’m delighted to be working with them on something I believe can really help people.
This book will cover a range of mental health issues, including depression, anxiety, and body image issues, in a way that looks deeply and kindly into how trans and non-binary people may be affected by them. The book will be for transgender people, by a transgender psychotherapist (that’s me!), with insights into trans-specific self-care advice. I want this book to be like an accessible, non-binary, person-centred therapist who lives on your bookshelf!
I’ll be writing, researching, and pondering this one until October 2020, when it’ll be heading to the publishers. For now, I’m working hard on the first chapters and trying to think of a cool title (all I can think of right now are puns, so it’s safe to say I’m objectively bad at titles). I’ll be updating you as I go and maybe posting some extras on Patreon. Thanks so much for coming along for the ride. Here’s wishing you good mental health!
The trans and non-binary galaxy flags I’ve used here were made by Laurie Raye, who you can show some love to right here! ❤️🌟🌌
