Fight The Good Fight

I’m delighted to provide you with something fresh and new this week! International Man of Wrestling Matt O’Connell invited me on his podcast I Hate Wrestling to talk about Mick ‘Mankind’ Foley and Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson. As someone who’s decidedly lukewarm about WWE I also take the opportunity to discuss kinky alter-egos, the benefits of psychotherapy, and (for some reason) King of the Hill.

As well as new content, this weekends vintage piece is my 2016 interview with the wonderful author Kameron Hurley, which can be found over at Do Some Damage. Click the link below to learn about her best-selling fiction and non-fiction books, her take on complex gender presentation in fiction, and her invention of the genre ‘bugpunk’.

  1. The podcast was really great. You guys had me laughing all the way through. I might have to vacuum seal a couple t shirts.
I had to go on you tube to watch the match after you were done. Talk about your trips down memory lane. I’ve been painting my kitchen all day and I was feeling pretty annoyed. This was just the mood lifter I needed. Thanks a lot.

  2. My computer couldn’t find your podcast link, but I can definitely say that professional wrestling is the greatest soap opera on TV. I’ve been watching since the days of Black Jack Mulligan and Chief Wahoo McDaniel. There used to be small time, local wrestling where they would get the kids from the audience on camera between matches to say hello to Mamaw and Papaw. Man, this stuff is priceless.
I follow some fairly interesting people, but you are moving up the chart with a great big bullet. Keep ’em coming, I’m loving it.

    1. Weird that you can’t access it – I’ll check that out! Thanks for letting me know! You can also find the podcast on the Apple Podcast app, if that helps. Let me know what you think!
Thank you for the compliment. 🙂 I’ve got an interview/essay on trans people in independent horror cinema, a video blog, and a short horror story coming this month! I hope some of that’s interesting for you.

      1. Strangely enough, I clicked on the link right after I read your reply and it came right up. I’ll definitely be watching out for the new stuff, I love horror movies of most kinds, except for assembly line slasher stuff. I’m a big fan of Italian horror, my favorite directors are Lucio Fulci and Mario Bava. I listen to lots of horror audiobooks. There’s a YouTube channel called Horrorbabble you might want to check out if you like that sort of thing.
Do you like John Waters? If you do you are just getting cooler by the second.
